Two programs describe basic and advanced tracheostomy care:

BASIC CARE begins with a description of anatomy and physiology as related to tracheostomy. It then highlights the different types of tubes available as well as additional equipment needed for adults with trachs. The remaining portion of the program demonstrates suctioning and other routine care. 25 minutes

ADVANCED CARE begins with a discussion of pressure monitoring and sequelae that may occur as a result of over- or under inflation of the cuff surrounding the tube's outer cannula. It then describes other pathologies, including emergency situations, as well as interventions to prevent or manage them. Finally, the program addresses special care and home care issues. 19 minutes
