This two part series describes the process of obtaining arterial blood for analysis. First, preparation is discussed with a focus on selecting the site, gathering appropriate equipment, and performing pre-procedure assessments. Then, percutaneous stick and drawing blood from an indwelling arterial catheter are illustrated. Finally, post-procedure evaluations and documentation are explained.
