MAKING SMART CHOICES: It's Up to You DVD

In the middle school years, young teens are faced with making increasingly serious decisions that may involve their relationships with friends, the use of alcohol and drugs, and ethical choices about such things as cheating, lying, and breaking rules. This program is designed to present good decision-making skills to young adolescents in a way that challenges students to think about how they make important choices, what new skills they can actively use when making choices, and how to evaluate a decision once it's been made.

An on-camera quiz at the beginning of the program sets the stage for students to assess their own decision-making abilities as they watch the program unfold. True-to-life vignettes present believable scenarios in which teens can see how these skills can be used with positive results.

Students will:
- Understand that some decisions are more serious than others
- Recognize when a decision is more likely to have a lasting effect
- Use a variety of decision-making strategies and skills
