| SAFE TRANSFERS: Using Proper Techniques and Mechanical Lifts DVD
Medical personnel rank higher than construction workers in lifting-related injuries. Caregivers must lift properly and use proper body mechanics to avoid injury or loss of balance, which could result in injury to themselves or patients/residents. If devices or equipment are available to make the lift easier and safer, they should be used. Step-by-step demonstrations of using devices and mechanical lifts will help caregivers develop a comfort level with the equipment and will encourage them to use the equipment. After completing this activity, the participant should be able to: 1. describe safety considerations during transfers. 2. identify assessments needed prior to transfers. 3. discuss types of transfers. 4. list equipment that can assist in transfers. *Closed Captioned | ||||||||
