The growth of Asian American psychology has resulted in multiple challenges not only in methodology but also in epistemology. Dr. Okazaki discusses Asian American psychology's activist roots in the late 1960s to early 1970s Civil Rights Era as a model that needs to be brought once again to the forefront. She encourages us to move beyond research and practice that reify the notion of Asian Americans as the model minority She point out how and why research and practice need a more activist approach in current multi-disciplinary scholarship.
