SHADES OF GAY![]() The term gay as a reference for homosexual has been well established for many years now; however, gay people still struggle for acceptance in many parts of society. Just as life is not always black and white, there can be many shades of gay; this documentary speaks to people about openness, acceptance and understanding, and in doing so we discover there are many shades of gay. Explores the diversity within the gay community and covers such topics as the coming out process, media stereotypes, and religious perspectives on homosexuality. The program is divided into five major focus areas. In Chapter 1, I.D., we meet 18 gay people and 6 professionals: Lynn J. Friedman, Ph.D., Professional Counselor; Susan I. Josephson, M.S.W., Clinical Social Worker; Mindy Milam, M.S.W., Clincal Social Worker; Rebecca Stilling, M.S.W., Clinical Social Worker; Reverend Grant E. Storms, Pastor; Karen Weissbecker, Ph.D., Genecist. In Chapter 2, Coming Out, segments include: The Process of Coming Out; Telling Our Parents; Coming Out As An Adult. In Chapter 3, Media Stereotypes, segments include: Images in the Media; Stereotypes. In Chapter 4, Christianity, segments include: Is Homosexuality Natural?; Is Homosexuality an Abomination?; Does God Love Me? Fundamentalism and Responses.
