ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT
Briefly reviews the anatomy of the human digestive system. Presents a description of various tubes specific for decompression and nutrition management. Specialized functions of the Levine, Salem Sump, Sengsten-Blakemore, Miller-Abbot, nasoenteric feeding tube, PEG and PEJ tubes are also described. 7 minutes

INTUBATION
Identifies types of nasogastric tubes and their use. Presents principles and procedures for their insertion, maintenance and removal. Demonstrates the role of the nurse caring for a patient with a nasogastric tube including safety and comfort. 20 minutes

NASOENTERIC CARE
Presents the role of the nurse caring for the patient with a small-bore nasoenteric feeding tube. Includes patient assessment and calculation of tube feeding strengths. Demonstrates procedures for a continuous tube feeding by pump including documentation of feeding and patient response. Also demonstrates administering medications by bolus gravity flow.

PERCUTANEOUS ENDOSCOPIC FEEDING TUBES
Explains percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy and jejunostomy tubes. Demonstrates tube placement. Presents nursing interventions for administration of a tube feeding and medication by the bolus gravity flow method. Evaluation and care of the insertion site is shown, as well as documentation of feeding and patient response. 17 minutes.
