Explore the food, holidays and crafts from Canada's multicultural landscape, which includes the First Nations and the French as well as many other ethnic groups. THE GEOGRAPHY OF CANADA
Students will understand how Canada's geography has shaped its history, society and culture in this program. Follow a group of Canadian students as they examine the regions of Canada to find how land formation, climate, river systems and natural resources have affected the growth of this nation. Explore great industrial cities like Vancouver and the capital city of Ottawa as well as farming communities in the prairies and fishing villages on the coast. Learn why the wilderness is treasured as one of Canada's most valuable resources and an important part of what makes Canada unique.

THE HISTORY OF CANADA
Students will gain an appreciation for the history and importance of Canadian unity in this program. Starting with the First Nations people, follow early Canadian history through French and British exploration, settlement and fur trading to Confederation, the formation of provinces and territories, and the structure and function of Canada's government today. Students will discover the contributions of individuals like Laura Secord and Louis Riel, and learn how important the unique Canadian spirit and values have been in shaping the history of Canada.
