ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY VIDEO LECTURE (22 Programs on 8 DVDs)

This 13 part series covers the principles of human anatomy and physiology. Presents the anatomical structures and physiological relationships to function. Covers all topics that are normally dealt with in two regular semesters at the university or college level depth; describes microscopic and gross structures, physiological concepts and system by system coverage of the Human Body.

Each lecture is between 30-45 minutes.

INTRODUCTION AND ORGANIZATIONS
This introduces the study of Anatomy and Physiology, Anatomical terminology, planes and body cavities. It goes further to discuss different levels of organization from atomic chemical level, cellular, tissue to organismal levels of organization of the human body

MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM
This looks at the physiology and physics of the bones and muscles. It examines the anatomy of specific organizations of skeletal system and the muscle groups as it focuses on the anatomy and physiology of the skeleton and then musculature in perspective.

NERVOUS SYSTEM
The lectures continue with a look at the very reason for the existence of all the other organ systems: the nervous system. It explores the structure and function of the spinal cord and the brain. This lecture covers the anatomy and physiology of the spinal cord and the spinal nerves, addresses the unconscious workings of the autonomic nervous system and all-important.

ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
This topic focuses on the study the anatomy and physiology of the body control by biological messengers or signals called hormones. Different modes of actions of hormones and their effects on target organs are studied, some of the glands include hypothalamus, pituitary gland and the adrenal glands, thyroids, parathyroid's, pancreas, gonads, adrenal and placenta. cranial nerves. Students learn about the wonders of sight and the eye, ears, hearing, and balance.

CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM
The course opens with the cardiovascular system, focusing on the Blood, Heart and Blood Vessels. The topic focuses on different components and composition of Blood, and their functions, parts and function of the Heart and their responsibilities, and how the processes can break down. Hemodynamics complete the cardiovascular system with descriptions of the anatomy and physiology of the great vessels of the body, including arteries, veins, and their relationships and dynamics of Blood pressure.

IMMUNE SYSTEM
This topic addresses the structure and function of the body’s major defense mechanism, the immune system and the lymphatic systems role in body defense and transport system.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM
This topic focuses mainly of the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system, mechanisms of perfusion and gaseous exchange at the lungs to the alveolar level. Different physiological volumes are discusses in details and their practical applications.

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
This lecture series starts with the anatomy and physiology of the upper portion of the gastrointestinal tract - the mouth, esophagus, and stomach - continuing with the pancreas, liver, and the biliary tree, small intestine, colon, and rectum.

NUTRITION AND DIETETICS
This lecture focuses on metabolism and energy balance of the body, production of energy and its distribution and expenditure.

ELECTROLYTE, FLUID AND ACID-BALANCE
This is key topic as it covers the homeostatic balances of fluids, electrolytes, acid-bases and water throughcomplex mechanisms such as biological buffer systems, neural and hormonal controls.

URINARY SYSTEM
This lecture focuses on the kidneys, ureters, and bladders function in control of elimination and blood pressure via Renin-Angiotensin-System (RAS).

REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
The anatomy and physiology of the male and female reproductive systems is their function of procreation are covered in details.

GROWTH AND INHERITANCE
This concludes the course in Anatomy and Physiology by studying the different aspects and stages of growth after conception, passing and expressions of genes and morphogenesis.
