CIRCLE OF LONELY HEARTS
"Once you get down here, it doesn't get much worse." Nicole
An excellent video for training addictions counselors and students of sociology and criminology, etc., but its real value is to be found in showing street addicts (especially women) what their lives actually look like from the outside. This is a graphic and shocking story of the power of drugs. Told by a twenty-four year old heroin addict named Nicole, it opens a remarkable window into the horror and misery of drug addiction and life on the streets as only someone who is still there can tell it. People caught up in this lifestyle don't really spend much time forming an idea what their daily activities look like. Getting them to watch these hardcore-reality studies of what they do every day offers a consciousness-raising experience. A very useful tool in breaking through the denial barrier in street-level recovery programs.
CIRCLE OF LONELY HEARTS chronicles Nicole's life from interviews recorded over three years and looks at the connection between three generations, from Nicole's mother to her own eight-year old daughter, all marked forever in their own way of life of abuse and neglect.
