CAREERS: Exploring the World of Work
This imaginative approach to career exploration will engage and motivate students. Based on the framework of the Holland Hexagon, this program uses a variety of vignettes to explore six personality types; interviews with actual workers give students a first-hand look at what types of job match these personalities and strengths. Students are encouraged to investigate the careers that might have the most opportunities in the future as well as the educational requirements for each, so they can plan ahead.
PERSONALITY TYPES: With the help of their guidance counselor, Marc, Lindsey, Kim and Luis investigate six different personality types and discover where they fit in. They see how defining the attributes of the Doer, Creator, Persuader, Organizer, Thinker and Helper is an excellent jumping off point for their career exploration.
CAREER CHOICES: While encouraged to look at careers that will be in high demand in the future, students are advised to find careers that draw on their interests and abilities. Workers representing the six personality types describe their jobs so students can see what a typical day is like and discover the education each career requires.
