Prompt recognition of potentially life-threatening causes of chest pain by professionals can be life-saving as well as prevent future long-term disability. The learning objectives of this program are:
1. Enumerate signs and symptoms that indicate high and low probabilities of ischemic coronary artery disease in the patient presenting with chest pain.
2. Compare and contrast the symptoms that may be experienced by women and older adults in comparison to what is expected by the layperson.
3. Identify other quickly lethal causes of chest pain and their associated signs and symptoms.
4. Enumerate causes of chest pain that are not usually life-threatening with their associated signs and symptoms.
