GERIATRIC EMERGENCIES - DVD
Elderly individuals are often fragile and have few reserves to draw on in acute medical emergencies. Rapid identification of the problem and prompt nursing action are needed to prevent negative outcomes. This program discusses common geriatric emergencies and provides information related to identification and management. Trauma, intra-abdominal emergencies, pneumonia, cerebral vascular accident/stroke, and delirium are addressed.
The learning objectives of this program are:
1. Describe trauma in relation to the geriatric population.
2. Identify symptoms of three GI disorders.
3. Discuss two types of cerebral vascular accidents (CVAs).
4. Discuss the relationship between a change in mental status and a change in physical status.
