SPECIMEN COLLECTION
Specimen Collection demonstrates the procedures for obtaining laboratory samples from children, adults, and the elderly in a variety of settings. Specific techniques demonstrated include venipuncture, obtaining a throat culture, and collecting samples of urine, stool, gastric secretions, sputum, nasopharyngeal secretions, wound drainage, and capillary blood. 29 minutes
POINT OF CARE TESTING
Point of Care Testing is demonstrated in a variety of health settings. The procedures demonstrated include using reagent strips, checking stool and gastric secretions for occult blood, and determining capillary blood glucose levels. Patient education as well as nursing responsibilities are illustrated throughout. 17 minutes
STERILE DRESSING CHANGE
Sterile Dressing Change demonstrates sterile wound care to a surgical incision and a surgical drain. It also describes and illustrates the phases of wound healing by primary intention. Wound assessment, pain management, possible complications, and documentation are also reviewed. 15 minutes
