*The review below is by Dr. Sondra Thiederman - author of MAKING DIVERSITY WORK: Seven Steps for Defeating Bias in the Workplace.

"33 miners buried a half-mile beneath a parched desert, dehydration, broken drills, a new baby named Esperanza - what, you might be wondering, does all that have to do with inclusion much less bias-reduction?

The answer: Everything. This engrossing video, you see, is about melding diverse thinking styles and disparate resources to reach a common goal. If that isn't inclusion (and a great way to reduce bias), I don't know what is.

One complaint I often get from potential clients is that they are tired of hearing the word "diversity." It's not, in most cases, that they don't want to talk about diversity/inclusion itself, but merely that the word has come to be associated with skills that are soft and concepts that no longer resonate with their teams.

If that is the case in your workplace, I recommend you use the Chilean Mine Rescue video as a way to approach diversity from a new direction. For example, when the Leader's Guide talks about the importance of seeking out diverse resources, you can generate a discussion of what resources - in terms of diverse thinking styles, background, or experience - are available in your workplace."
