MEDIEVAL MANUSCRIPTS
This program looks at how medieval manuscripts came into being: how illuminations were accomplished and what materials were used, how scriptoria functioned, which titles were selected. The program also explains the combinations of artistic talent and imagination, religious devotion, and intellectual integrity that enabled the artists and artisans of the monasteries to play so crucial a part in the survival of Western culture.
